Mission
To design and build open, people-centred technology that helps communities solve their own challenges — and helps institutions serve them better.
About us
We are an inter-disciplinary tech society and startup turning civic, social, ecological and governance challenges into working products.
To design and build open, people-centred technology that helps communities solve their own challenges — and helps institutions serve them better.
A world where every postcode has access to the digital tools it needs to be fair, resilient and self-governing.

Our story
Every big systemic problem shows up somewhere specific — a flooded street, a missing streetlight, a family that never heard of a scheme it qualified for.
Postcode Studio started as a group of technologists, designers and social scientists who wanted to work at that scale. Our mascot is the ant: small, collaborative and astonishingly good at building complex systems together.
Open source, open data and open process wherever possible.
We build with people, not for them.
We measure impact honestly and share what fails.
Start local, iterate fast, scale what works.
A handful of builders meet at a civic hackathon.
Postcode Studio becomes an inter-disciplinary tech society.
Prototypes go live with partner communities and local bodies.
Open-sourcing our tools as digital public goods.
